How to choose VPN server

The quality of a VPN server is relative—it depends on your location, the ISP you use, and other factors. However, in this guide, we will learn how to choose the best server for your needs.

Step 1: Perform a Ping Test on Each Server

There are many available servers. To see the available servers, check the Order VPN menu. For example, let's compare "VPN Remote SG4" and "VPN Remote ID10".

Below is an example of how to ping a VPN server using CMD (Windows) or MikroTik Terminal.

Pay attention to the Latency value (highlighted in a red box).

Latency Table

Latency	Condition
1ms – 30ms	Excellent
30ms – 40ms	Good
41ms – 65ms	Normal
66ms – 100ms	Fairly Normal
101ms – 120ms	Less Stable
121ms – 200ms	Unstable
200ms > ?	🐌 (Very Slow)

The lower the latency, the better the connection. By comparing different servers, you can select the one with the best latency.
